Student Reps are chosen in elections or by asking you to express an interest in the role, this should happen at the start of your new academic year. Student Reps repesent everyone on your year of study, so ideally your classmates will vote in who they wish to be their Student Reps for the year ahead. Ideally, there would be 1 x Student Rep for every 25 students on your year of study for your course. There could very well be multiple Student Reps needed!
Ask your Programme Leader if you have not yet discussed who will be your Student Rep to represent your cohort.
Reps are elected on a 12-month basis at the start of your academic year, be that in September, January or March.
Student Rep recruitment for the 2025/26 academic year is now live!
Interested in becoming a Student Rep?
If you have not attended Student Rep training by The Students' Union before, you must attend a two hour training session to officially become a Student Rep and to be added to the Student Rep Database.
Training sessions will be available to book in Autumn 2026.
Were you a Student Rep last year? If you completed your 2-hour training, you're probably a Returning Rep! To find out more, check out our information page on Returning Reps!
